Blue Martini

Blue Martini
J.P. Riemens (2004)

J. P. Riemens is an accomplished guitarist and singer who's been on the local scene for over 20 years, and while his name may not be familiar, you've probably heard what he's done behind the studio console. As co-owner of Grant Avenue Studio, he's worked with the likes of Gordon Lightfoot and Daniel Lanois, so it goes without saying that his latest solo effort benefits from great production. The 11-song set features softly delivered lyrics against a mellow musical backdrop, mixing blues and R&B with some nice hints of jazz that work well on a song like Romance. Blue Martini isn't an album to rev you up for a night on the town, but when you get home late with that special someone, it might be the perfect alternative to, say, the too-blatant choice of Barry White as "mood" music. Full Moon In August

Full Moon In August
J.P. Riemens (1996)

This album is dedicated to all the musicians that live near my home in rural Ontario, who play and create wonderful music for their friends and their own entertainment. Some of them have been doing it all their lives and have never played for money or to a room larger than their neighbours kitchen. Although some people may call them amateurs, they are, in my eyes, the real stars. email jpr@bellnet.ca to order
